and download a free copy of Legacy. It
is really easy to get started, although one has to admit, it gets a
little complicated if you get really serious. Just start with your
own name, your husband or wife's name, then add your own children.
Move up a generation, with your and your spouse's parents. Then
their parents, and so on. When you don't know some information,
leave it blank, Legacy allows you to come back and fill it in later.
Before you know it you have a really exciting family tree with
twenty or thirty names on it, and you are hooked!
You can also always go back and upgrade
your copy of Legacy to the professional edition, and the file you
created works just fine.

In addition to the formal Legacy
genealogy, many individuals have written short histories of
themselves and their families. In this section we have recorded
some of them
The history of
my paternal grandfather (Robert Symons) has been documented in the
scrapbook. The history of my paternal great grandmother has been
documented in the coffee table book called “Story of a frontier
family” by Wendy Beal Preston. Edith being descended from the 1820
settlers through her mother Susannah Miles and father Stephen
grandfather, William Symons was born in 1815? Could be December
1814? (baptised on the 8th of January 1815) and lived at
Mt Edgecombe, Devon on the border of Cornwall. His first wife (whom
he married in the parish of Stoke Damerell, Plymouth in
Devonshire) was Mary Jane Dobson they had 8-10 children two were
born after they emigrated. William was the first.
The Billings Hennessy
Matilda Mary Hennessy (nicknamed Tilly) was the eldest daughter of
Mrs. Mary Hennessy (born winter of Hamburg, Germany ) and John
Dennis Hennessy (born 29th august 1873) in mile road,
Tilly had an amazing flare for music and at the age of 16 was
appointed organist of the Brompton oratory London. She had 4
sisters and 2 bothers.
Biography of Thelma Becks
Having read Edone (Monkton) Petheram’s
biography, graphic indeed, covering a wonderful life to date (her
sister Mona was senior to me at Girls High School),
I felt the urge to submit an article, having had encouragement to do so from my two nieces, Penny
and Moira (Symons) also Girls High School scholars. The focus of this feature is
mainly on family as opposed to self, they are my life.
